Mouse in progress

From the moment that I bought a little Lundby dollshouse to make a Mice manor I wanted of course to create mice myselfe. A good working method or pattern is almost not to find on the internet. Ok, I understand, a good cook keeps his recipe a secret ;-) My daughter Vall has her own dollhouse blog and she liked the idea for making mice so much that we were thinking together how we can create our own unique mouse.

So, we designed a pattern and experiment with all sorts of materials to find out what we want for a nice little mouse. We are now so far that we both almost are ready with our first mouse, they’re becoming very sweet. 

Next week we hope to put the result on photo.

Meet Sunny and Petieter

These cute little mice I bought yesterdag at the fair in Rijswijk. (near by The Hague)

A day before I went to the fair, I discovered these adorable mice on the website of Madmouses and saw that they were also presented at the fair. So I couldn't resist to take them home ;-))

The venturous Sunny loves to sing in the rain and she's a very curious mouse-girl.

Petieter is a shine young fellow who is  continuously  holding the hand of Sunny.

But It'will become less once there settle more mice (which I want to make myself) in the Manor. Maybe they miss the other mice from the Madmouse-family?

I took Sunny and Petieter with me while shopping at the fair and we bought some nice clothes for their new future friends :-))

Back home I found a cheesy (LOL) surpise in my bag!! Thank you Rita and Sandra!

The manor

This dollshouse is becoming the mice manor. Original it is a Lundby Stockholm house from 1980. I've bought it a few weeks ago on marketplace. It includes also many pieces original furniture and some lamps and an adapter.

The scale is 1:18 so a bit smaller than the standard size 1:12 and that's fine because the mice won't be so tall . I took this pictures right after I came home with the house. It still needs a good clean-up and some repairing. For the most part it's in the original state and in a good condition. I am not a real Lundby collector so I don't mind applying some innovations. I'm very pleased with the rare exterior which is often hard to find. 

The painted flowers on the front are original but the brown tree trunks are painted by children.

So the exterior gets a new look. I love the original wallpaper in the rooms so they stay the same. I'm planning to use the Lundby furniture and to redocorate them with another fabric and paint.

      

Making plans

I always adored mice. Fifteen years ago years ago I made mice from polymer clay. I posted some photos I've saved but unfortunately I was not able to save everything I've made. There were many more mice then the mice on these photo's . I also made a grandmother and grandfather, a bakers, a whole mice family eating a dining table and a bridal couple who get married.

Of all mice projects I only kept the music box with te mother and her children.

Two years ago I made a new mouse. This mouse was bigger, about 13cm high and she could move because the body was made of fabric and iron. The head, the hands and feet I made with of polymer clay. She had also real clothes instead of clothes from clay.

Now I'm back on the point that I want to make a cute mice family. I found a Lundby dollshouse on market place that I like to furnish as a mice manor. I'm still thinking about how to make the mice. I do not yet know which materials I'm going to use. Maybe polymer clay with a fabric body. Or clay in combination with hair to make a fur. Or teddy fabric.... Maybe wool? I can't decide yet...

Here starts my love for mice - made in 1993 from polymer clay
